I Live For Art
As an illustrator specializing in character illustrations, I take great pleasure in bringing my ideas to life on paper. Below you'll find a glimpse of a few of the projects I've worked on. If you'd like to find out more about my work and what I can do for you, feel free to get in touch.
Life in Death
A project based on the philosophy of the energy in our bodies going somewhere after we pass, in relation to the first law of thermodynamics that states that energy cannot be crated or destroyed, only transformed or transferred. On that basis, after death our energy is transformed or transferred onto another path. The belief of where our energy path lies, is varying dependent on individual beliefs, cultures and religions.
Some examples would be reincarnation, resurrection, rebirth, immortality as a legacy and immortality as a memory of others. So even though the person that once existed ceases, they possibly live on in a multitude of ways.
Secret 7"
This is the final result of the Secret 7’’ album sleeve. The piece represents the passion and determination that is emanated from the lyrics, music and visuals. In the centre there is a wax moulded into the shape of a human torso with melted sections to convey the heat seeping throughout the wax. Surrounding the figure, I added wings spanning from the torso that are engulfed in fire using blend layers and lighting. The stars and bubbles suggest an ethereal nature to the figure I’ve created and encapsulates its brightness in contrast to the subjects that should be brighter but are instead being outshone.
The subject is an amalgamation of a candle and a phoenix, the candle to represent a burning determination as Celeste spoke about the song being about overcoming adversity. The phoenix implying a rebirth/reinvigoration of a person, which relates to the state of mind the lyricist was in at the time, as well as the fast and energetic pace that the tempo is set too.
"We're on thin ice"
A short animation that subverts the elements of advertising to raise awareness of the significant amount of air pollution that large vehicles create. This was for a live graphic design brief for the Hay Festival commissioned by the Badvertising.org crew.
For one, the vehicles fuel economy has long been known for being inefficient as well as being non-aerodynamic compared to a conventional car. This especially true for the US, they class SUVs as light trucks so they are not confined as strictly to the fuel efficiency standards of other cars. This makes it one of the highest fuel economy, only being rivalled by sports cars, while being tested as 30% less efficient than the usual larger classed car.
Not only that, but their CO2 emissions are amongst the highest recorded. In the Guardian it is stated that 'UVs were the second largest cause of the global rise in carbon dioxide emissions over the past decade' beating that of the vehicles within the delivery industry, which are some of the few that are larger in size than an SUV.
